Building Hatseflats

A few months ago I decided to enter the Extreme Raid 2016 organised by Koos Winnips. It will take place on 3rd September 2016 on the Lauwersmeer in the northernmost part of Holland. It is a 50km race in windy and shallow waters. To be successful you must be able to row and sail. I bought new 8' oars and aluminium rowlocks at The Bootbouwer. Today I removed the partial bulkheads and fitted the rowlocks, after repairing the starboard gunwhale. The gunwhales were made out of fir. This time I drilled pilot holes before screwing on the rowlocks. Next time I should perhaps choose another wood for gunwhales as well.
